Colorado Sky

Colorado Sky is a brilliant new opera! I was completely captivated by Laura Fuentes' clever and heartfelt libretto and by Ben Morris's wonderfully inventive score - the latter loaded with lyricism and picturesque instrumental effects. The production was, in every way, exemplary. I loved the puppets, and all the performers were top-notch. Every child should see Colorado Sky - and every adult, too. It's a howl! ~ Tom Cipullo

Colorado Sky is a new shadow puppet opera for families By Ben Morris and Laura Fuentes. Inspired by the 2020 voter proposition to reintroduce wolves to Colorado, this light-hearted story follows a wolf cub named Sky as he tries to fit in and make friends in his new home. The opera is written for string quartet, a cast of three singers, and shadow puppets! It was premiered in June, 2023 with Sohap Ensemble, Art Song Colorado, BCAH, and Boulder Opera Company, and was commissioned by Sohap Ensemble and Art Song Colorado.
